Nasceu em Tegernsee, na Bavaria, 1984. Vive e trabalha desde 2011 no Rio de Janeiro e Munique. Artista Visual e Designer com pesquisa desenvolvida no âmbito da fotografia e da multimidia. Formada em Design em Barcelona na EINA e em Veneza na IUAV, estudou fotografia Expandida com Denise Cathilina na Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage. Participou também do curso “mapeamentos afetivos e narrativas urbanas” de Giodana Holanda investigando sobre arte tecnologia e o afeto.
Faz parte de um coletivo vinculado a fotografia experimental de pinhole (https://www.facebook.com/pinholedayrj), produzindo eventos educativos. Amadurecendo a linguagem artística dela – LEVE e sutil, o seu olhar se sente especialmente atraído pelas pessoas, os retratos revelam uma sensibilidade de relacionamento diferente. O trabalho foca num uso de uma linguagem estética e poética, se servindo também de técnicas de collage e multimedia.
Depois de ter terminado os estudos trabalhou com design e artes, na produção e comunicação de mostras na Galeria Nilufar em Milão, acabou se dirigindo para a área de design editorial de livros de artista e fotografia de interiores. Atualmente está desenvolvendo vários projetos pessoais baseados no Rio de Janeiro, partindo das relações humanas. Ao mesmo tempo focando na paisagem exótica do seu entorno e no tema da “casa” elaborado num projeto interativo de mapas emocionais.

Sophia was born in Tegernsee, Bavaria in 1984. Since 2011 she has been living and working in Rio de Janeiro and Munich. She is a Visual Artist and Designer and carries out research in photography and mixed media. She graduated in Design from EINA, Barcelona and from IUAV, Venice and she took up Denise Cathilina’s Expanded Photography course at the Visual Arts School (EAV) Parque Lage. She is currently attending Giordana Holanda’s class on “affective mapping and urban narratives”. She has joined an artists collective focused on Pinhole experimental photography(https://www.facebook.com/pinholedayrj), organizing educational events.
As her artistic language – LIGHT and subtle – matures, her eye is drawn to people – portraits reveal a different sensitivity for relationship. Her work focuses on the use of an aesthetic and poetic language creating collage and multimedia pieces. After she graduated she worked in design and art producing exhibitions at Nilufar Gallery in Milan. Then she turned to the design production of artists’ books and interior photography.
At the moment she is developing several personal projects based on human relations in Rio de Janeiro. And at same time she is focusing on the exotic surrounding of the landscape, realizing interactive emotional maps on the places she already used to live in.
